Photography is the art of capturing the moment. All the world in front of the lens is instilled in an isolated moment of the visual. By a similar turn, the cinema arts (film and video) also capture visual moments but these moments are in motion. Both of these arts are involved with the creation of something that is seen (and also heard in the case of cinema). The connection between sight and ideas is what makes these art forms so interesting to people. The fact that I can see what someone else saw, contemplate on that visual for however long I want, and then become impacted (or not) by it is exciting.
