Cinema can be a very inspiring art, especially now with the ease of digital technology. Nearly everyone has a video camera of some sort (or access to one) and can replicate what they see on the screen. They can easily learn about framing, camera moves, and basic editing techniques just by watching and imitating. Most of the cheaper cameras do not have manual controls (focus, white balance, shutter speed) but they can be excellent learning tools.
