Content is the other, more obvious, component of the meaning of images. It does more work in determining the inherent meaning of the image and is the most apparently identified. If an image is a picture of a horse in a fenced in field, irregardless of what else is in the picture, that is the content and cannot be refuted. The context may be a lot of different things, but the content is concrete (most of the time). Content is more involved with reality (or surreality) while context is wrapped up in social influences and opinion.
